Colorado Ice Sign QB Ryan Clement

April 17, 2008

Fort Collins, Colo. - The Colorado Ice (1-4) signed former University of
Miami (Fla.) QB Ryan Clement Wednesday.  Clement played in eight games for the Ice last season, finishing with 668 yards and ten passing touchdowns. He recorded a season-high three touchdown passes in a loss to RiverCity on April 7, 2007, and threw for over 100 yards in five games.

Before joining the Ice last season, Clement played for the Las Vegas Outlaws (XFL), the Scottish Claymores (NFL Europe) and the Orlando Predators (AFL). He graduated from the University of Miami in 1998 before returning to complete his law degree in 2005.  He led the Hurricanes to a 38-31 win over Donovan McNabb and the Syracuse Orangemen in 1996, throwing three touchdown passes.  Clement also led the Hurricanes to a win in the 1996 Carquest Bowl, the only postseason game he started.  He finished fourth on the all-time career list for pass completion percentage and pass completions, fifth all-time for passing yardage and total offense and sixth overall for touchdown passes.

Clement was an All-State honoree four straight years while playing at Mullen High School in Denver, Colo., starting every game from his freshman through senior year.  He finished with the school record for the most completed passes consecutively with no incompletes in a game with 21 and earned the Denver Post Gold Helmet Award.
