Fort Collins, Colo. – Shortly after All-Star kicker Deric Yaussi signed an agreement to play for the AFL’s Colorado Crush, the Colorado Ice (2-5) picked up Colorado College senior Max Green. In addition to Green, the Ice signed previous Crush player Jamie Heiner and DL Jason Tiner.
Green, originally from Carbondale, comes to the Ice after finishing his senior season this fall at Colorado College. He was 11-of-12 on field goal attempts and 15-of-19 on extra points during the 2007 season. His performance ranks him first in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in field goal accuracy, second in field goals made and third in scoring among kickers.
Fort Collins native and graduate of Rocky Mountain High School, Jamie Heiner, brings professional experience to the Ice. He has played previously for the Tennessee Titans and the Colorado Crush. Heiner played for the University of Northern Colorado from 1994-98 and earned second team All-North Central Conference honors.
Also from UNC, four-year letterwinner Jason Tiner returns to the Ice. He played two games previously this season, recording 2.5 total tackles from the line for a loss of eight yards, two pass breakups and a forced fumble. As a sophomore at UNC, Tiner was tabbed as the NCC Defensive Player of the Week for a single-game eight tackle, two sack performance. He originally comes from Colorado Springs were he played at Wasson High School.
Colorado will host Billings for the second time this season when the Outlaws (5-2) visit the Budweiser Events Center this Friday for a 7:30 p.m. MST kickoff. May 2 is the first of a three game home stand for the Ice. The game is themed Kids Night and all kids 12 and under will receive half price tickets at the door. Wichita and RiverCity will visit the Budweiser Events Center the following two Saturdays.
Pre-registration has started for the Annual Colorado Ice Kids Football Camp held June 9-12, 2008. The camp is open to third through eighth graders and is hosted by Fort Collins Indoor Soccer at OD’s Sports Crossing in Fort Collins, Colo. Ice players and coaches will provide expert instruction on the fundamentals of football. Participants will sharpen offensive and defensive skills through on-field drills and practices.
