Game 9 Preview: Wichita Wild

Fort Collins, Colo. – United Indoor Football’s newest team, the Wichita Wild (1-7), will visit the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo. to face off with the Colorado Ice (3-5) this Saturday, May 10, for the Mother’s Day game. This will be the first game between the two teams. All moms will receive $3 off their ticket.
Colorado is coming off a close 39-37 win over the Billings Outlaws last week. Colorado put the first points on the board when QB Ryan Clement connected with WR George Hill for a 23-yard score, but newly signed kicker Max Green missed the extra point and Billings would hit two touchdowns to make it 14-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The two teams combined to add 30 points in the second quarter, but Colorado would go in down 30-20 at halftime. The Ice rallied in the second half, holding the Outlaws to just seven points, zero in the third quarter. The Ice offense posted 19 points during the second half, taking their first lead on a pass from Clement to WR Brian Sump to go up 33-30. Billings got their only score in the second half on a run by RB Eddie Linscomb but Hill would finish it for the Ice with a 41-yard kick return.
Clement led the offense, going 12-of-21 for 145 yards and three scores. He also added two yards and a touchdown on the ground. Hill returned four kicks for the Ice for 79 yards. His return near the end of the fourth quarter went 41 yards for the score that sealed Colorado’s victory. In addition to his performance on special teams, Hill pulled in three passes from Clement for 35 yards and two scores. LB Ryan Palmer tallied 8.5 total tackles with one for a yard loss. DL Kurt Kissner had the only pick for the Ice and DB’s DJ Craft and Dorsey Golston would break up four passes among them.
Colorado closes out their three game home stand next Saturday when they host the RiverCity Rage. The game is themed as Military Appreciation night where current or former military personnel will receive $5 off their ticket. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT. |
