Fort Collins, Colo. -

The Colorado Ice professional indoor football team (4-6) announce that star receiver George Hill has been invited to a tryout with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars next week.  The Colorado State alum tried out for the AFL’s Colorado Crush in January and joined the Ice shortly after.  Hill has seen action in all ten games for the Ice and currently ranks fifth in the league and first on the team in all purpose yards (1109), sixth in kick return average (19.4 yards/return) and tenth in receiving yards per game (42.4).  He is first on the team in kick returns (34-660-1), second on the team in reception yards (424) and second in scoring (60 points).

The Ice also picked up Kansas State standout quarterback and former Mayor Wellington Webb’s grandson, Allen Webb.  The Denver native attended Chatfield and Denver South High Schools as a four-year starter.  He was an All-State selection and team MVP his senior year.  Webb spent his redshirt year at Indiana before transferring to Kansas State in 2003 where he started ten games in two seasons for the Wildcats.  Webb went 4-1 as a starter in 2005, completed 62-of-105 passes for 850 yards and five touchdowns.  Also a rushing threat as he added 172 yards on 71 attempts on the ground.  Webb then transferred to Texas College for his senior year before entering in the NFL draft.

Colorado travels to Sioux City, Iowa to face the Bandits this Saturday, May 24, for a 7 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MT kickoff.  The Ice will visit rival Billings Outlaws on May 31 at 7 p.m. before returning home for the final two regular season games; June 6 at 7:30 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Storm for Hometown Heroes Night and June 13 at 7:30 p.m. against the Wichita Wild for Fan Appreciation Night.
