Ice's Washington Takes Player of the Week

The Colorado Ice professional indoor football team (4-6) announces that RB Terry Washington received United Indoor Football (UIF) Special Teams Player of the Week honors after his performance in last week's 72-60 loss to the Sioux City Bandits. 

Washington returned 10 kicks for 210 yards in addition to rushing 16 times for 100 yards and a score. He also had a catch for 18 yards, bringing his all-purpose total to 328. In just two games that he has played for the Ice, Washington jumped to second on the team in rushing with 33 carries for 184 yards and five touchdowns, close behind QB Garrett Mehl who has 39 carries for 195 yards and five scores. He has tallied 445 total all-purpose yards this season.

A St. Louis, Mo. native, Washington played all 25 games in his two seasons at the University of Colorado and led the Buffs in special team points (16) and kickoff return average (20.8). He earned second-team all-Jayhawk conference honors as a sophomore at Garden City CC, where he had 63 tackles and six interceptions.

Sioux Falls QB Terrance Bryant and Sioux City QB Chad Kapanui were named co-Offensive Players of the Week and River City DB Milton Proctor took the Defensive honors.

The Ice will visit rival Billings Outlaws this Saturday, May 31 at 7 p.m. before returning home for the final two regular season games; June 6 at 7:30 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Storm for Hometown Heroes Night and June 13 at 7:30 p.m. against the Wichita Wild for Fan Appreciation Night.
