May 30, 2008

Fort Collins, Colo. -

The Colorado Ice professional indoor football team (4-7) will play the final regular season road game this weekend, and who better to face but Division rival Billings (7-4).  The Outlaws and Ice will kick off at 7 p.m. MT Saturday, May 31, in the Metra Park Arena in Billings, Mont.  Colorado looks to even the all-time series record with Billings holding a 3-2 advantage, but the teams are even with a game a piece this year.

Both games this season have been played at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo.  The first was the Ice’s season home opener on April 10 when the Outlaws connected on a last second field goal to pull ahead for a 28-26 win.  QB Garrett Mehl led the team, going 14-for-23 for 164 yards and three touchdowns, spread among WR’s Brian Sump, David Bellinger and Justin Gallas.  DB Dorsey Golston tallied 11 total tackles, one for loss, to earn the league’s defensive Player of the Week nod.

WR George Hill picked up special teams Player of the Week honors following the Ice’s 39-37 victory over Billings on May 2.  Hill’s 41-yard kickoff return for a score sealed the win for Colorado in the final minutes.  He added two receiving touchdowns on 35 yards to add to his total return yardage of 79.  QB Ryan Clement finished 12-of-21 for 145 yards and three scores, the other to Sump.

This week’s game will also be broadcast live on TV at Jackson’s Sports Bar at 925 E. Harmony Road in Fort Collins.  Come enjoy the game with some Colorado Ice players and cheerleaders.  There will be Ice giveaways and prizes along with drink specials during the game.

The Ice will close the season with two regular season games at home; June 6 at 7:30 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Storm for Hometown Heroes Night and June 13 at 7:30 p.m. against the Wichita Wild for Fan Appreciation Night.
