Yaussi Fundraiser Tops $1,000 in First Game

April 11, 2008

Fort Collins, Colo. – Colorado Ice All-Star kicker Deric Yaussi has teamed up with local teen Macie Morse who was born with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, the number one cause of blindness in children.  Until recently, no medical treatment or surgery was available.  A new medical procedure is available in China that will renew her sight and costs about $40,000.  Macie has recently been identified as a candidate for this procedure and Deric has decided to sponsor a fundraiser to help her receive the treatment.

Deric has named the campaign “Kickin It For Macie” and is asking for donations for every point he makes during the 2008 UIF Season.  Video clips of Macie and Deric together will play at all home games this season at the Budweiser Events Center and the Colorado Icicles will walk around with donation jars after each point Deric makes.  Over $1,000 was raised already during the April 10th season home opener and Deric has high hopes of much more to come.

Colorado hosts the Sioux City next Friday, April 18, 2008 for a 7:30 p.m. MT kickoff at the Budweiser Events Center before Colorado travels to Omaha for a 7:00 p.m. CST/6:00 p.m. MST kickoff on Saturday, April 26.
