Game 10 Preview: River City Rage

May 14, 2008

Fort Collins, Colo. – The Colorado Ice (3-6) will host the River City Rage (3-6) for the first time this season on Saturday, May 17, for a 7 p.m. kickoff.  River City holds a 2-1 all-time series advantage after splitting two games last year.

The Rage beat the Ice 42-35 on March 9, 2008, in St. Charles, Mo. in the first regular season game on a last second fumble recovery by DL Terrell Washington.  Colorado led 21-18 at the half, but were held scoreless in the third quarter and two touchdowns in the fourth, one a 19-yard interception return from DB Dorsey Golston, wasn’t enough.

The Ice are coming off a hard loss to the Wichita Wild last Saturday at the Budweiser Events Center.  The Wild rallied and outscored the Ice 9-0 in the fourth quarter to win by a final 35-31 decision.  RB Cody Wood carried the ball 11 times for 22 yards and a score.  QB Ryan Clement finished with 144 yards and three touchdowns, two to WR Brian Sump.  LB Ryan Palmer led the defense, tallying 9.5 total tackles, 2.5 for loss.  Golston added eight tackles, one for loss, and broke up three passes.  DB’s DJ Craft and Travis Garcia each pulled in an interception.

River City fell 60-13 to Sioux Falls last Saturday, with their only points coming from two K Mike Matheny field goals and a two-yard run from PeeJay Jack at the end of the first half.

This game wraps up a three home game series for the Ice.  They travel to Sioux City to face the Bandits on May 24 for a 7 p.m. CT/6 p.m. MT kickoff before facing the Outlaws in Billings the following weekend.
