Colorado Ice QB Picked as Player of the Week

Fort Collins, Colo. - Colorado Ice (6-8) quarterback Garrett Mehl was named as the United Indoor Football League's Offensive Player of the Week after his effort in Colorado's final regular season game. The Ice dominated the Wichita Wild on Friday, June 13, at the Budweiser Events Center, handing them a 56-24 loss.
Mehl had an explosive game to lead the offense, going 16-of-22 for 232 yards and six TD tosses. He also added five rushing yards to total 237 yards on offense. He topped both the rushing and passing charts for the team this season, finishing with 1,229 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns, 311 rushing yards and six rushing scores in 11 games. An All-State pick from Crete, Neb., Mehl played four years for the Colorado School of Mines,
earning several All-RMAC honors and helping the team to the RMAC Championship in 2004.
