FORT COLLINS, CO – Forget about the curse of Friday the 13th, the ICE kicked off the 2009 season with a convincing victory over the Northern Colorado Wolfpack Friday night at the Budweiser Events Center.

The ICE opened the game with a 2 yard touchdown by Terry Washington at the 10:06 mark of the first quarter. The scoring continued in the first quarter with two touchdown passes, one from Garrett Mehl to Cory Sleeth at the 7:33 mark, and another from Justin Holland to Justin Gallas at the 4:32 mark. The second quarter brought more great offense with another touchdown pass from Justin Holland to Anthony Celestine at the 11:53 mark.

The ICE used the second half to run up the score, holding the Wolfpack scoreless in the 3rd quarter. On the heels of a 54 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by George Hill at the 1:31 mark of the 3rd quarter, the ICE gained momentum that carried on throughout the game. Courtney Miller used that momentum to intercept a pass and return it for a touchdown early in the 4th quarter. The defense wrapped up the win with three consecutive sacks by Wayne Wilder, Brian Ottman, and Jeff Spletzer in the closing seconds of the game.

The next ICE home game will open the 2009 IFL regular season against their long-time rival the Billings Outlaws on Saturday March 28th.
