Colorado Ice Give Fever a Break with 37 – 41 Loss
Kennewick, WA – The Colorado Ice give away another game in Kennewick to the Tri-Cities Fever after being up by 12 in the 4th quarter. With this loss the Ice fall to second place in the Intense Conference with another long trip to the Texas Revolution in Allen, Texas next weekend.
The Ice still have the opportunity to host the conference playoff game with the win against the Nebraska Danger, who are now 8 – 4 after beating the Wyoming Cavalry on Friday.
The Ice Special Teams and Defense had most of the highlights in tonight’s matchup. There were 3 blocked PATs one by Gabe Knapton (33) and two others that were not reported in the stats. Knapton had another great night getting 2 sacks and 6 unassisted tackles with 3 assisted tackles. Michael Stover (97) also had a sack, while Joe Thornton (1) in his first game back with the Ice had 6 unassisted tackles and 2 assisted. Jovan Jackson (24) had another interception which put the Ice in position to have an attempt at winning the game.
For the offense, Matt Roark (4) had another QB keeper for a 2 yard rushing touchdown, followed in the 2nd quarter by Willie Copeland (13) with a 10 yard pass to Kyle Kaiser (3) for a touchdown. In the 2nd half, Copeland (13) connected with new running back acquisition Dennis Kennedy (7) for a 41 yard touchdown. Both Cordera Eason (28) and Kennedy (7) had rushing touchdowns in the 4th quarter.
Philip Welch went 4 for 4 on PATs and had a 36 yard field goal with 35 seconds on the clock in the 4th quarter putting the Ice up for the last time in the game.
The Runza Player of the Game is Kyle Kaiser. The Runza Player of the Game appearance will be on Tuesday, June 4th at Runza of Loveland from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The Runza Player of the Game from the June 1st game against the Texas Revolution will also be in attendance.
Next home game is June 7th and is the Military Appreciation Night and Tough Enough to Wear Pink Larimer County Kickoff.
